Fair Pick

A group decision making app within a social enterprise. We are figuring out how to best do each of those two things.

Fair Pick is an app that helps groups of people decide on things. Here I talk about how we are building the app itself, and how we are building it within a new type of social enterprise that is good for the world, and doesn't do the awful things that so many apps do. So two parts, the product (meaning the app itself) and the organization (meaning the entity in which it sits).

There's lots written about how to build apps. I read some of it and we are doing lots of what the wise say about how to do it. But as with everybody, we are finding our own way. We'll talk about that. Most people we know and have asked, have said they have pretty recently had a difficult time deciding with people on something, which movie to watch, which restaurant to go to, which day to meet, which present to buy for somebody. We hope to make these decisions easier, take much less time and at times frustration, to gather more and better ideas of possibilities, and to make better decisions.

But so many apps that grow and have a large number of users, end up taking people's information and selling it, and in general behaving in ways that are not in the best interests of those users. We want the app to be financed and managed in a good way and to ensure that even in the very long term the app will always be run in a way that is good for its users and the world because this mission is locked in. We will detail our path to figuring out how to do that.
